Family Photography - I'm convinced it's so important for multiple reasons:
1. It creates a vision of the family for our children, that serves better than their memory. In their formidable years, they grow with a complete picture of their family, and images capture the love for them, before their memory developed.
2. As parents we work to chronicle the development of our little ones, but what about us? The idea of archiving our aging isn't particularly appealing, but it is just as important. As we grow older, we will appreciate images that paint a picture of our involvement in the family. We own such a large part of our little ones lives, is the picture and their story really complete without us in there? We owe it to them, and to our future selves, to chronicle the entire family as we all grow.
3. As a photographer, I might be slightly bias, but I strongly believe the best art for our homes is family photos. When we moved into this new house, one of the first things I did was make a family portrait wall. It was my way of making this structure our home. After almost three years, that wall is still my favorite spot in the house. :)
